Ogna is an eldorado for those who seek peace and quiet outside. You can be close to the sea, the river, the mountains and the forest on the edge of Norway. You can even spend the night in treetop cabins.

Ogna has much of the charm of southern Norway, but also much of the power of Jæren. Here you can walk along the long, white sandy beaches of Holmasanden and Ognasanden, feel the wind rustle your hair, or swim in cosy coves. You can also take a trip along the Ogna river into the magical, prehistoric forest in the Rabali nature reserve or go on a summit hike to Borgåsen, Grønåsen or Smøråsen. It's also nice to take a trip to the day-trip cabin Tvitjørn along the main road in Western Norway (Gamle Vestlandske Hovedvei).

For more excitement, try your hand at golf on the cosy and exciting 9-hole course or go fishing for salmon and trout in the Ogna river. There are also plenty of great surfing spots nearby.

Art and culture

Ogna is a small village centre with a grocery store, a school and a restored medieval church. The Jæren Railway stops here, and the Nordsjøvegen tourist route runs right through the centre of Ogna. Many famous artists have lived in the village, and the distinctive landscape has inspired many renowned painters, such as Nikolai Ulfsten and Kitty Kielland. Ogna is also the home of the award-winning poet and author Helge Torvund.

At Ogna you will also find Ogna Scene in Grønfed kulturtun's venue with its unique retro environment. Ogna Scene has been described by many artists as one of Norway's most beautiful stages. Grønefed kulturtun offers activity packages such as guided cycling tours for groups. Here you can also buy real local Jærpizza every Saturday during the summer months.

Sleep in the forest or by the sea

If you want to spend the night at Ogna, you can choose from several options. If you dream of sleeping in the treetops, you can stay in one of Trekronå's futuristic tree houses. Here you can lie under the duvet with a view of pine forests and starry skies, and wake up to the chirping of birds and the sound of creeks. You'll find Ogna camping and Brusand camping at either end of the sandy beach Brusanden, and you can also rent a room at the campsite Ognatun. Further south in the municipality, you'll find idyllic Sirevåg with hotel accommodation and motorhome parking. It's also not far from the towns of Bryne and Egersund, which have several accommodation options.

If you get hungry, swing by Svingen Grill or visit Jærgarden Kvalbein at Brusand, Pauserommet, or Sirevåg conference hotel in Sirevåg.
