The centre offers a wide range of services and a good selection of local shops. Enjoy a meal at Askvoll Sjøbuer Mat og Drikke, or Askvoll Fjordhotell, a hotel situated in the centre of the village, which is a great starting point for experiencing the beautiful Fjord Coast.

If you would like some action, you can go on a RIB boat trip out into the archipelago with RIB Askvoll, whose trips feature lots of interesting history and magnificent scenery.

Island hopping at the ocean’s edge

Go island hopping among the island communities Atløy, Værlandet and Bulandet as far west as you can get out at the ocean's edge. You can see Vilnes wooden church dating from 1674 on Atløy, and climb Brurastakken – a mountain that looks like it’s wearing a black, white and green striped skirt. The mountain is a popular field work destination for geologists. The islands of Bulandet and Værlandet lie like a string of pearls, beautifully linked together by six bridges. They are popular with people who enjoy cycling, kayaking, fishing and walking.

Walks

You can do spectacular hikes and walks in Askvoll. Blegja (1,304 metres above sea level) is the highest summit in Askvoll. Alden, also known as ‘the Norwegian horse’, is one of the most distinctive mountains and a famous seamark along the coast of Western Norway. If you’re looking for an easier walk, you could do one of the North Sea Trails or a cultural walk.
