Winter is a fantastic time to visit Preikestolen. The snow transforms the landscape into a spectacular wonderland, where the dramatic scenery reveals itself in its most magical form.

Idyllic island of Kvitsøy lies far out on the fjord between Haugesund and Stavanger. It is the smallest of Ryfylke's municipalities. The island is home to one of Ryfylkemuseets finest museum sites, Kvitsøy Hummermuseet.

Adventure parks and family parks

Norway's toughest climbing wall is at Sørmarka Arena. Beginners and experts will be stretched at our 'monsterwall' which is 17m high and has about 1000 m² of climbing surfaces. The wall has a great variety of angles and steepness allowing the wall to cater to all levels of climbers. If you have a Brattkort you can climb with your partner when you like, or if you have a sikringskort you can climb on toprope when our instructors are present. Beginners can try our offer 'prøv å klatre' or 'try climbing' where no experience or equipment is needed. Take a walk on the beach on a wet autumn day with the sea in turmoil, or experience a summer evening with a blazing sunset; a calm, blue sea, and a horizon of infinity. The ever-changing light in this part of Norway has inspired many landscape painters. The beach has the Blue flag certificate.

Beaches

Borestranden is one of the nicest beaches in Norway and is three kilometres long. The beach is located along the FV507, the Norwegian Scenic Route Jæren, and is a nice stop off the scenic road.

Mountain hikes and walks

In the far south of Rogaland you will find an area with such a unique geology that we have been recognised by UNESCO. Here you walk on the same rock as on the moon; Anorthosite. Astronauts and scientists from NASA have even visited the area to prepare for taking rock samples on the moon!
