Cycling

The goal of this trip is definitely worth the effort. The beach Skadbergsand is one of the best places in Egersund to enjoy swimming. Little can be better than a fresh breeze by the sea on a nice summer day. You will appreciate that the refreshing swim that much more after 15 km of cycling. The route goes mainly along paved roads with several stretches of cycling paths.

Beaches

The largest bathing area in the Egersund area is perfect for cooling off on those hot summer days, and wonderful for hiking all year.

Art and museums

Dalane Folkemuseum is a regional museum for Dalane, the southernmost part of the county Rogaland, encompassing the municipalities Bjerkreim, Lund, Sokndal and Eigersund.

Easily accessible gem of a lookout point at just the right length from the Egersund centre.

This nice round trip is suitable for families as there are cycling trails in most of the places. From the centre of Egersund, follow FV44 to Tengs. Here, you can stop for a round of mini golf or ice cream at Kosen. At the intersection of Jærveien and Tengsareidveien, turn to the right and then follow the first exit on the right onto Vingårdsveien.

Cycling along the Nordsjøveien from Egersund to Hellvik is a wonderful trip, which spans 12 kilometres on a well-prepared hiking/gravel road. There are many great checkpoints and picnic areas along the way. If it's too long to ride back and forth, a great alternative is to turn around by Maurholen (an old train station with waffle sales in the summer and a beautiful outdoor area) or take the train one way.

Mountain hikes and walks

Enjoy beautiful views and a magical forest walk in Hestnes, only 5 min. from Egersund center. Here are views of islets, lighthouses and reefs, hiking in magical forests past small streams and remnants of ancient times.

Quench your thirst with products from one of Norway's oldest breweries and soda factories, Berentsens Brygghus.

Did you know that you can rent a bike at the Tourist office in Egersund? It costs only NOK 250,- per day and can be paid with cash or Vipps.

Art and museums

After Egersund Fayancefabrik shut down in 1979, Dalane Folkemuseum took over the factory's archives and item collections. Today, this gift constitutes the core collection at Egersund Fayancemuseum (the Egersund Pottery Museum), which was first established in 1986.
